No, I have not done anything like this other than a quick run through with
some of the developer tool apps from Apple, like memory leaks. My guess
would be that my classes would be slower than Rb's StaticText.

I'll be frank with you, getting things to run faster in Rb has never been my
forte. It has been quite a challenge for me to get this to just work in the
first place, lots of declare trial and errors.

I wish you would try them out in your project and see. The emphasis on this
is getting pretty things to draw where speed is not an issue, looking good
is. I'll add some sort of speed trials to my to do list as I have not looked
at this at all.
