This is a design choice I made for version 1.0 and not an oversight. For my personal needs in the projects I am working on, I don't need tab support yet, so that dictated delaying full tab support. I haven't yet decided how I want to handle tabs in version 1.0, but it is on my to do list to figure out. In a later version of the FTC, proper support for tabs will require some sort of visual ruler interface.
