You don't say if you're running on Mac or Windows. On Mac you need to use declares and call GetThemeBrushAsColor. The color you're looking for is one of kThemeBrushPrimaryHighlightColor, kThemeBrushSecondaryHighlightColor or kThemeBrushAlternatePrimaryHighlightColor. When using the last color the Finder draws the text in white.
