Could I get someone else with a network printer and OS X to confirm the behavior I'm seeing with my machine. (Intel MacPro, 10.4.9, RB2007r2, HPLJ1160 attached to a D/Link ethernet print server.)
The simplest printing program: dim g as graphics g=openprinter() g.drawstring "Hello World",100,100 is supposed to print to the default printer. That seems to work just fine with a locally attached default printer, but not with a network default printer, as in this case, the name of the default printer is drawn, apparently, from the environmental variable PRINTER. If PRINTER is set correctly, the above program works, but not otherwise. It seems to me that this could be a serious support issue, as most users have no idea how to do this, and the best way involves construction of a PRINTER entry in environment.plist. I'll submit a report if I get some confirmation.
