Because they don't exist. You can fiddle with the Class name in "p(i) = New PushButton1" and change it to "p(i) = New PushButton". That way it will compile but it will not actually create any clones. It gives you an opportunity to see the contents of the p array and the contents of the window. (Put a break at the end) What you see is simply something that you have coded into pointers but there are no objects created.
