Problem is that historically they did not work perfectly in plugins.
When I tried to convert to them years ago then there was no way they
could work in
my model where I inherit from and also use plugins from within other
plugins.
Things do work now, but the statement above shows there was not years
of adoption time as there is no point to adopt to something that did
not work.

I really hope you will. Your plugins are very valuable
contributions to the RB community.
(To be fair, REAL has been telling developers -- including plugin
authors -- to move away from the old constructor format for years
now, and showed signs of being really serious about it six months
ago or so. So it shouldn't be a surprise... but of course it's
still a lot of work.)
