But the thing is... it's a bit TOO simple. It registers no functions or classes at all!! I am wondering if I did something wrong? I did try clearing my REALbasic cache, but no effect, it still crashed. So perhaps I really do have the simplest plugin code that will crash RB2008r4?

Any plugin with the "funky" dylib you provide will cause the segmentation fault crash, and if this funky dylib is the sole plugin in the plugins folder it generates the misalignment messages. Therefore you have to conclude that the funky dylib is causing RB2008.4 to hick-up. Funky should be read in the context of RB2008.4, which apparently tries to strip the plugin away because in an empty project the plugin is not used. It is not typelib, or any other plugin, but the funky one which appears to lead to the misalinment messages.
