Laura, How about doing the list members a favor (so we think kindly of you when we consider selling a note)? Do NOT broadcast a message to the full list indicating that you could buy a note if someone creates one when they are trying to sell a property. Send the individual that posted the RE for sale message a reply but reply to just them.
Anyone who reads most of the main lists for over a week will see more then one of your ads. Hence we know that you want to buy/broker notes. At some point your repeated efforts to get the word out will piss off possible customers so you will reduce the number of folks who want to send you business.
