From: "Bruce A. Green" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Subject: Re: Urgent Help: Simulation to test Real Media servers Subu, Real has a test client application in its SDK that it recommends people use to create their own test-client for stress testing. We found this to be time-consuming and resource intensive making it relatively in-effective. They do offer an option to allow their consulting services company to bring their tools into your shop and help you stress test the environment (for a fee). Ourselves and others on the forum have asked several times to have this tool made readily available but to no avail. It's nice that real offers this through their consulting services but, as I'm sure you're aware, this is not practical during development and early testing and might never be economically practical, depending on the application. Since 1997 Xing Technology Corp (now part of Real Networks) provided a stress tool for their StreamWorks and currently Microsoft provides a Netshow player tool (beta) for these same purposes. Hopefully real with get wise and realize this type of tool should be considered part of the standard software developer's Kit materials and make it available. Without this tool they make it very difficult to allow the creation of high-volume solutions easily tested in their environment. Let us know if you hear anything off-forum about this.
