I've had good results at small sizes from a nogatech pcmcia capture card
bundled with a pixera camera, it ships as the "Mobile Video Pro II". Check
it out at www.nogatech.com. To get decent sound you must use an external
microphone, the one built into a laptop picks up way too much machine noise.

IMO, this is suitable for a fuzzy talking head at 160x120.

This also gets you video in to your notebook, for better quality I've used a
better camera with the nogatech capture card. The pixera camera's best
feature is it's small size, it sacrifices a lot to get that small (way
smaller than my thumb).

I've not really tried the usb cameras now available, has anyone else?
