Charles,
Here's some closed captioning code.
You can play it directly as a single stream just to see how it works. But
ideally you'd want to put it (or your own captions, rather) in a SMIL file.
By the way, your code can be much simpler if you don't want to identify the
speaker(s). You'll quickly figure out what parts you can eliminate.
If you need help on how to set up a video and text window, let me know and
I'll send you that code too.
We are currently developing a SMIL Closed Captioning Wizard to work withing
MS Word. When complete it will allow you to synchronize captions with
video; it will also generate all the underlying code you need without
requiring you to program.

You can use RealText, which can be http streamed without the G2 server.
But the player must be G2.
