for which platform? We use SGI and there comes a bunch of media tools with
the standard distribution, which lets you convert nearly all video formats
into still images of any format and vice versa (dmconvert / mediaconvert).
That's one of the reason why I love to use SGIs for RealMedia production.
Only drawback for this platform is that no G2 encoder exists (yet?), only
Real 5.0 is available so far.
