Subject: RE: what kind of video camera
I would still go for the dv camera myself because they are getting so damn
cheap now....otherwise if you want to record the content to tape and then
encode try to go for a Hi-8 or S-Vhs camera...the latter format being a
little more robust but both offering similar quality....if you want to feed
the signal directly into the computer to encode look for a second hand
camera with ideally 3 ccd's (one each for r-g-b) and look for a camera with
larger ccd's .....ie 1/2 inch over.1/3 inch as this will generally deliver
a higher quality image. The other pro to getting an s-vhs or hi-8 camera is
the s-video output option on both that would be preferred over a composite
output.
it might be worth looking at
http://www.terran.com/QuickTime/Article/index.html regarding how to produce
high quality digital content...very well written & informative article. I
revolves around the quicktime architecture but the bulk of the content is
very applicable to real systems products.
