Subject: re: laptop and webcasting live

If my memory is correct, if you use the USB port then the video will
be captured relying more on the processor of the laptop. However,
if the videocard has video outs (ie S-video or RCA), then you can
connect your laptop to it. Its better to use the video outs than USB
since it will process the video using your video card and laptop
processor, the frame rate and picture quality should be better.
Since you said you will use your betacam, you wont be able to use
the USB port (unless there is some converter available). The VAIO
laptop prob has S-video outs, so you should be fine. Some1
correct me if I am wrong, but this is the logic that is applied for
cameras and netconferencing.

I will probably have to do a live webcasting in Italy. I will carry my VAIO
laptop: I read that Nogatech has a USB chip...but how does it work...if I am
not mistaken is only a chip, right? Any other good capture device that works
for a live encoding? The incoming feed will be betacam.
