Subject: FramePositioningControl null

I am trying to get the FramePositioningControl using JMF2.0 and
the RJMF (rsg2sdk_r2), but

FramePositioningControl fpc=(FramePositioningControl)
player.getControl("javax.media.control.FramePositioningControl");

always returns null regardless of what sort of media I try to
play...

What am I doing wrong?

All I really want is the number of frames in a given media resource... Is
there another way to do this?
