Subject: Re: Intel PC Camera for live encoding???

There is no definitive answer on "how many input video sources can I encode on
one PC at the same time" but there are some general facts I am aware of.

- cards like the Osprey 100 and Videum AV allow you to install multiple
capture cards in one computer
- the RealProducer Plus allows you to:
   * choose which physical capture card the realproducer is taking input from
   * run more than one instance of the producer plus and have each instance
encode against a different capture card

Note: One of the distinguishing features between the free and plus producers
is the RealProducer Basic does not allow more than one video source at once.

Given that info, the next factor to consider is CPU and how much CPU you need
to encode multiple video streams. This is very dependent on the number of
outbound bitrates you are generating from each input source. If you are doing
just one or two relatively low bitrates then you can potentially do two
encodings on a very good single processor machine or a moderate dual processor
machine. Sorry I can't be more specific but I have not done a lot of hands on
testing myself, just some very casual testing.

As far as the Mac goes, at this time we don't support live broadcasting. We do
support live capture to on-demand files and converting to RM format on the Mac.

Hope this helps.

cheers!
