I think RealProducer on Linux is a Java application (at least it was a few
months ago).  The GUI is implemented in Swing and there is native code to
integrate Java with the native encoding stuff via JNI.  If you look through
the jar files, it looks like some of the encoder SDK functionality is
exposed via Java classes.  I don't think it is JMF based.

You might be able to write your own Java application that uses the *.so's
and *.jar's from RealProducer to integrate encoding functionality.
