From: "Jason Phillips" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Subject: What is Preroll? I am in the midst of cresting my own File Format and Rendering plug-ins. I know that a certain amount of data needs to be pre-buffered on the client side before rendering of my data can begin so that I do not run into any stalls. I am attempting to use the "Preroll" parameter in the Stream Header to do this. The Real SDK states that 'Preroll' is the "Number of milliseconds to buffer before starting the stream." Great...so I know how many bytes I need to buffer, I convert that to milliseconds using the average bandwidth of my data. Now I have my 'Preroll' time. When I load the file locally, the pre-buffered data is actually slightly less than expected. When I load the file by connecting to Real Server, the pre-buffered data is approximately twice what is expected. Does anyone have any experience with this? Is this typical behavior?
