for low bitrate in the 300kbps range, RealMedia compares very well to
MPEG at twice the bitrate (600kbps). At higher bitrates, MPEG begins to
really shine compared to the Realmedia format but at the 'lower'
bitrates of 300-700kbps RealMedia format has high quality advantages
over MPEG.

Unfortunately I don't have a good demo online to back up this point but
I encourage you to try some encoding of your own to test this point
using our new 7.0 Realproducer.

Further, MPEG does not offer a 'surestream like' functionality and this
is one more reason you might choose to stream a proprietary file format
versions as standard one. Not that MPEG is not a good alternative, it
is, but RealNetworks have paid so much attention to low bitrate
streaming that there are significant advantages to our technology over
MPEg at those bitrates.
