a more certain way to do this is to use the Authentication Extension for
the RealServer. It will cost you a little extra but it is probably much
easier and more reliable. You can set a calendar range for which a
given user has permissions to view (with resolution down to the second)
or you can set a total time duration. Instead of sending them a SMIL
file that is always changing the end time according when the user clicks
on the link you can just set a time range for a specific time. The
server handles the time management for you. One problem with putting
the end time in the SMIL is that someone could re-write the SMIL (if
they could figure out the link to the actual media files) so it did not
have the end time in it.
