Hi Laurent,
In its present form the Oracle interMedia plugin for Real Server doesn't
enable the ability to directly write to the database, so the work-flow
scenario you describe using Real Server as the point of communication won't
work. It is currently set up as distribution channel only for Real
content. The task of loading content is done via traditional database
loading utilities. In other words, you need to have a completed video
stream to store. When content management applications (like Artesia or
eMotion Cinebase) do the task you mention, they open direct database
connections and move Real content that way. Without a front-end like they
provide, an archival system like you are talking about breaks down pretty
quickly anyway.
In case you don't have a copy of it, you should pick up the Oracle
interMedia tuning guide for Audio, Video and Image applications. It gives
lots of pointers on how to optimize and tune the database to serve Real
content a best case manner.
