Speed Up Development Time While Reducing Costs Using REAL Studio 2010
Release 2 from REAL Software
*AUSTIN, Texas (May 4, 2010)* — Software development tools company REAL
Software today announced the availability of REAL Studio 2010 Release
2. REAL Studio is a cross-platform software development tool that enables
developers to create high-quality, native applications for Windows, Mac OS X
and Linux. Because REAL Studio is object-oriented, developers don’t have to
write as much code, which rapidly increases productivity and reduces
development time. Developers who use REAL Studio also see an increase in
revenue since they are able to expand their offering from a single platform
application to multi-platform without having to write any additional
code. REAL Studio is easy to learn and has a low learning curve, making it
the perfect development tool for both those who are new to programming and
professional software developers.
REAL Studio 2010 Release 2 introduces 17 new features and 68
improvements. Improved database connectivity, reporting, ActiveX and IDE
printing can be found in this release. Also flickering in Windows
applications that occurred when several different types of controls were
moved or resized, has been greatly reduced. Finally, this release adds more
DLL placement options and a new TextEncoding feature that determines if a
string is correctly encoded or not.
“We strive to enable rapid application development for any type of developer
creating any type of application and REAL Studio 2010 Release 2 is exemplary
of that goal,” commented Geoff Perlman, Founder and CEO of REAL
Software. “Flickering on Windows has been an issue for some time and fixing
it demonstrates our continued promise to deliver stability improvements.”
"Over the years, I have found the REALbasic language to be an easy to learn,
yet powerful programming language that allows me to create full-featured,
reliable solutions in a shorter time frame than with other languages, such
as C, Objective-C, and others," commented Eric Vasbinder, a Technical
Director in HP Software’s Channel Sales organization. "This ease and power
is nicely combined with the robust capabilities of the REAL Studio IDE,
including the ability to use one code base to create native solutions on
Windows, Linux and Mac OS X. In addition, new features are routinely
released that I value, including database connectivity enhancements in the
upcoming 2010r2. Given all of this, REALbasic and REAL Studio have become
the first tools that I reach for when creating OS native applications for
our clients."
"REAL Studio 2010 streamlines a lot of the painful aspects of cross-platform
development," commented Michael Diehr, Technical Director of Xochi Media,
the developers of iScreensaver, a cross-platform screensaver design tool.
"Debugging can be exceptionally painful, but REAL Studio's remote debugger
allows us to host and compile our source code on Mac OS X, then remotely
debug via TCP/IP onto multiple Windows OSs - both real PCs and virtual
machines. We have been testing 2010r2 and look forward to using it in
production."
REAL Studio 2010 Release 2 is available in three editions:
