Peter,

This is another very good and valid request.

Jani, could this possibly be added to the realXtend Project's "To Do
List"?

Those would be some VERY cool additional features to add to the
project (especially for conducting "Town Hall" meetings or various
other Virtual meetings).

"1. A microphone at the back of the hall provides one-at-a-time
control
for questions and relays audio to each person in the hall at the same
volume. A similar device is provided for presenters at the front of
the hall."

I do like the microphone at the back of the hall idea, which provides
one-at-a-time control (for an "open questions" session). This would
be great for "Town Hall" meetings, or for Virtual Classroom use.

Not exactly sure how this would be implemented in realXtend, but it
does sound like a very cool feature and I could see how extremely
useful this would/could be (especially for online virtual meetings),
or even in Virtual classroom use (so an instructor could open up the
room to questions).

"2. A PDF viewer enables audience members to view content in synch,
or
beak synchronization to flip through the pages at their pace, and
resynch with the presenter at any time. This has direct application
to
the ongoing discussion of shared browsing that is discussed under the
topic of secure HTML on a prim."

The PDF viewer sounds very cool as well. I would probably take it one
step further, and have a PPT (PowerPoint) viewer as well, so that
PowerPoint slides (as well as PDF's) could be shared or viewed from
within the world/browser. Also a "Whiteboard" feature might be nice
as well (that could be enabled/disabled in the Viewer/Browser). So
that if you are in a room/group, you could turn the "Whiteboard"
feature on, and people could see what the person is drawing/sketching
on the Whiteboard.

This would be extremely helpful in Academia/online education, as well
as in online Virtual meetings.

"3. Support for many video formats and live webcams. (Looks like
realXtend will use VLC to support multiple formats.) "

Again, another great feature.

Could these cool features be added to the "RealXtend" road map? It
would be good to "ear mark" this thread, and possibly jot some of
these ideas down and possibly put them on the realXtend project road
map.

I could really see the value of having these useful features in the
Acadamic world, online University virtual meetings, and also for
business meeting places (online virtual meetings). A Whiteboard, PDF
viewer, PPT (PowerPoint) slide viewer, the "Town Hall/classroom/
virtual meeting microphone" concept, and support for the multiple
video formats are ALL excellent features to add to the realXtend
platform.

(Looks like I may have to roll up my sleeves and start working on some
of these features). If at all possible, please add these to the
realXtend features "Road Map" if at all possible. Then maybe we can
start separate threads on each topic and open the ideas up for
discussion (on a Developer's thread). Just to do some brain storming,
and get some ideas as to how to implement these features from within
the browser.

Those are some very good ideas though. I believe each of those three
ideas deserves it's own development thread.

I personally would really LOVE to see realXtend as not only an
advanced "gaming platform" for social networks, but as an "educational
tool" and "virtual meeting" tool as well. Would be a very cool
platform for online education, and virtual meetings and online
collaboration as well.

Thanks Peter for the 3 very good ideas/points.

           Mark
