It's not really clearly defined, but in the past, "realXtend" was a forked client viewer, server, and associated demo application in one bundle. More recently we have created ModreX as a way to not fork OpenSim, but instead make it an interoperable module of OpenSim, and thus maintain the benefits of an up-to-date foundation. Similarly we'd like to do the same for the client viewer, however we cannot, so we are forced to rewrite our own from scratch. The two together are tennatively called realXtend-Next Generation, but I am looking for a cooler code-name. Unfortunately the planning is early enough that there is no known release date for reX-NG as yet.
