We talked about this in the live dev meeting recently, should be easy enough so
hopefully we get it done soonish. I'm afraid it will take a while though, like
1-2 months, there are so many things to do that are perhaps more critical.
Unless someone out there wants to take the challenge.

You can already use the editor in Naali releases to make avatars for Tundra
usage, though, as it has the feature to save the av xml to a local file. That
file you can then just use as a normal asset for AVs in Tundra, e.g. put the
xml to some web server.

The demo we've been working on (and which should be getting announced today or
so afaik :) should get an avatar selector, so when new users log in anonymously
they can select an AV from a few options. That's not there yet, I hope to get
it done soon like in 1-2 weeks.

I guess you want it as an end user tool, so that users of your service could
easily modify the looks? That needs some refactoring in the code, as the avatar
module is now actually a part of the rexlogicmodule which implements the LLUDP
protocol against SL/Opensim and is not used with Tundra. Should be simple to
make it a server agnostic avatar editor 'cause the av appearance is just that
one xml file.

BTW: there is a new set of creative commons avatars from Boris's Avatar project
last year, to be used as new rex default AVs (bye bye Jack?). I guess he is
somehow publishing them soon, but here's the info anyway. They are using a set
of motion-captured animations. These ones have the clothes painted in the
texture -- the ones coming to the demo are different, use clothes as
attachments like Jack and Kate have done (I understood that the ones for that
demo are made with Evolver?). These ones that Boris made are made using
MakeHuman, and we've been planning a new av project to integrate MH to rex
somehow.
