Hi Stephen I didn't try to follow what you're doing here, but suspect that since you're communicating with mainframes, you probably have PostScript printers on your network.
We have a little project to print directly from View to PostScript printers by writing a little dialect that gets converted to PostScript, and is then sent directly to the networked PS printer where the print manager then takes over. It's not completed yet, but I am using it already in my EMR program.
