Though I can appreciate the stated benefits of the ML, it is not an adequate replacement for the immediacy of AltME. Yes, discussions can get muddied with distractions and tangents, that is the trade-off. There is perhaps a need for better tools to dig around the message data to preserve the important information. However, I find AltME a much better model for working with one or many to solve a problem quickly -- ML interactions are simply too slow and unwieldy. Though I suppose the more laboured approach to interaction with the ML does tend to suit more philosophical, public or beginner topics.
