I have a modified version of that old beta1 relic. See
do http://www.rebolforces.com/reb/multicam.r
It suffers from the same old problem of the close event not being processed
until the event queue is empty, but on faster systems this might not be an
issue. Also the RT rebcam doesn't seem to be there anymore?
