I remember claims like that being made on Usenet some ten years ago, and it was funny
for a while how people without a solid background in information theory actually
believed it for some time. Eventually the interest wore off though. Recycling that
old joke now, well after April 1st, seems pointless to me.
Anyone REALLY interested in state of the art data compression should have a look
at the proceedings of the IEEE Data Compression Conference of the last few years,
available at most college or university libraries.
