I guess what I was thinking was that you seem to be implying
that the wsdl file should be opened each time the the
virtual port is opened, whereas with a stable SOAP service,
you really only need to do it the once.  You could for
instance create an object from the wsdl file, and store it
locally.

But I guess the added value in opening a virtual port is to
check whether the service still exists!  Soap services seem
to be pretty emphemeral in my experience.
