There aren't any guidelines as such. Other than something like: be clear, be 
simple, don't use too many.

Better guidelines will emerge as part of the tagging exercise.  We don't 
really know how to best label something until we've played around with the 
existing archive.


For example, a thread discussing a bug in Object! could be tagged as 

[data structures//object!//bug]

or

[object!] [bugs]

or any one of a dozen other ways. The best ways will emerge.

Meanwhile, I wouldn't expect anyone posting here to have to (or even want to) 
work out where their message belongs in the tag team ontology before posting.

So, yes please, make an effort to tag new threads if possible. But don't 
worry about it. The tag team will tidy up any tags once the full drift of the 
thread becomes clear.
