Struezels (Switzerland) (Horsehooves) 2 cups sifted flour 3 tablespoons sugar 2 tablespoons butter 1 egg, beaten 1/2 cup milk 2 tablespoons seedless raisins 1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder fat for deep-fat frying Sift the flour and sugar together into a bowl. Cut in the butter with a pastry blender or two knives. Add the egg and milk, mixing until well blended. Add the raisins and baking powder and again mix well. Shape a tablespoon of the mixture into a horseshoe. Heat fat in a deep saucepan to 360 :F. Drop the horseshoes into it and fry until golden brown. Drain and dust with powdered sugar.
