Bread Pudding
(like my mom used to make)
The amounts are a guess, we have never followed an exact recipe.
2 eggs
1 cup of milk
4 - 5 Tbsp sugar
1/2 tsp vanilla extract
6 - 8 slices of bread
cinnamon (optional - we hardly ever use this)
butter
In a baking dish beat the eggs. Add milk and sugar and beat a bit more,
then vanilla and stir. Tear the bread slices and drop into the mixture,
pressing down with the fork you beat the mixture with until all the bread
is wet. Sprinkle with cinnamon if you wish, and add a couple of pats of
butter to the top. Cover and bake in a 350 F oven for about an hour.
Remove cover, and if the bread pudding isn't light brown on top, broil for
a couple of minutes.
Some people add raisins, but we have never bothered with that.
