Jo Dee Messina Set for Sound & Speed Concert Mon. December 18.2006 6:34 PM EST
Jo Dee Messina, Josh Turner and Rodney Atkins will perform Jan. 13 at Nashville's Gaylord Entertainment Center as a highlight of Sound & Speed, a fundraiser benefiting the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum and the Victory Junction Gang Camp for children with serious illnesses. Taking place Jan. 12-13, the event includes autograph and Q&A sessions with country artists and NASCAR drivers. This year's participants include Trace Adkins, Aaron Tippin, John Anderson, Ashley Monroe, Aaron Tippin, Ray Stevens, Brenda Lee and Blue County's Aaron Benward. Other participants include supermodel Niki Taylor and NASCAR drivers Kyle Petty, Michael Waltrip, Jamie McMurray, Ryan Newman, David Stremme, Bobby Hamilton Jr., Aric Almirola, Richard Petty, Richard Childress, Junie Donlavey, Ernie Ervin and Rex White. Rodney Atkins Recalls His Past During Charity Show Mon. December 18.2006 6:34 PM EST Rodney Atkins returned Wednesday (Dec. 13) to Greeneville, Tenn., for a holiday concert benefiting his former place of residence -- the Holston United Methodist Home for Children. Born in Knoxville, Tenn., Atkins was placed at the home at birth and was placed for adoption three different times during his first year of life. At the concert, the singer-songwriter was reunited with Charles Hutchins, now vice president of the home, who was responsible for placing Atkins with his adoptive parents. "I was adopted from here, and I know how important a sense of family is, especially during the holidays," Atkins said. "It's great to have the opportunity to come back and help bring awareness to Holston Home." Atkins' current single, "Watching You," was written about his son Elijah, who co-stars in the song's music video and is the only biological relative the singer has ever known. Charlie Daniels Takes Volunteer Jam on the Road Mon. December 18.2006 6:34 PM EST The Charlie Daniels Band is taking his Volunteer Jam to the road next year with support from the Marshall Tucker Band and the Outlaws. Volunteer Jam Tour 2007 begins April 28 in Valdosta, Ga., and currently has dates scheduled through the end of July, including stops in Oklahoma, Florida, Alabama, Tennessee, Colorado, California, Arizona, Nevada, New Hampshire and Connecticut. The Volunteer Jam started in 1974 in Nashville and became an annual concert event featuring a wide variety of guest performers.
