Emmylou Harris to Be Interviewed at SXSW Wed. January 03.2007 3:58 PM EST
Emmylou Harris is among the musicians to be interviewed during the music industry conference South by Southwest (SXSW) in Austin, Texas, in March. Harris' interview will also include acoustic performances. Other artists who will be interviewed at SXSW include Tropicalia musician Gilberto Gil, David Byrne, Rickie Lee Jones, Booker T (who produced Willie Nelson's Stardust album), Nettwerk Records co-founder Terry McBride and Hannibal Records founder Joe Boyd. Pete Townshend will be the keynote speaker. The SXSW Music Conference takes place March 14-18. American Idol's Bucky Covington Signs to Lyric Street Wed. January 03.2007 12:23 PM EST Bucky Covington, a finalist on the 2006 season of American Idol, has signed to Lyric Street Records. A label representative confirmed it expects to release Covington's first single, "Different World," later this month. Nashville Business Journal reported the signing over the holidays in an interview with the label president, Randy Goodman. Other artists on the label include Rascal Flatts, SHeDAISY and Josh Gracin (also an Idol finalist). Covington announced in September that Sawyer Brown's Mark Miller would be producing the sessions for his debut album. His American Idol competition included winner Taylor Hicks and fellow North Carolina natives Chris Daughtry and Kellie Pickler.
