Three Fresh Breakfast Ideas
Breakfast is a must in the Zone, setting you on the right track for the
rest of the day. More than with any other meal, though, people tend to
get into a breakfast food rut and end up eating the same fare day after
day. Of course, any Zone-balanced meal in the morning is appropriate,
but why not try something new? Here are three wonderful wake-me-up
options:
1. One of our resourceful Zone Diet Online members created this
Zone-balanced Oatmeal-Chocolate Treat:
Ingredients
1 cup cooked steel-cut oatmeal
21 grams chocolate protein powder
1 tablespoon peanut butter
Instructions
Just mix it all together!
2. This Fruity-Nut Cottage Cheese With Raspberry Sauce is like a
breakfast sundae. Try gently warming the sauce in the microwave on cold
mornings.
Ingredients
3/4 cup low-fat cottage cheese
1/4 cup fresh blueberries
1/2 cup peaches, diced
3/4 cup cantaloupe, diced
1/4 cup grapes
1/2 cup raspberries
3 macadamia nuts, chopped
Instructions
Mound cottage cheese in the center of a serving plate. Arrange
blueberries, peaches, cantaloupe, and grapes around the cottage cheese.
Place raspberries in a blender and puree. Pour pureed raspberries over
cottage cheese and fruit, sprinkle it with nuts, and serve.
3. Here*s good breakfast news: Dr. Sears recently formulated the first
dry cereal that is low enough in glycemic load to be Zone-friendly! Zone
Cereal is all-natural and blended with the appropriate balance of
protein, carbs, and essential fats to keep you in the Zone. Find it at a
grocery store or online
