Red Velvet Cake
1/2 Cup Crisco
1 1/2 Cups Sugar
2 eggs
1 oz bottle red food coloring
1 tsp vanilla flavoring
2 cups flour
1 tbsp baking cocoa
1 cup buttermilk
1 tbsp vinegar
1 tsp baking soda
Cream together Crisco and sugar. Add
eggs, food coloring and vanilla. Mix well.
Sift flour and cocoa together. Add
alternately with buttermilk mixing well.
Combine baking soda and vinegar.
Fold into batter, don*t beat. Pour into
to 2 greased and floured circle or heart
shaped pans. Bake at 350 for
25-30 minutes.
Vanilla Frosting
(Fronts two 8-9 inch layer cake or a
13 x 9 cake)
1/4 cup Crisco
2 teaspoon vanilla flavoring
3 cups 10x sugar
1/4 cup milk

In a bowl put Crisco, vanilla, and 1/3 of
sugar. Add milk and remaining sugar
alternately; mix until smooth and creamy.
Add more sugar to thicken or milk to thin
it if need for spreading consistency
