DANISH PASTRY

2 1/2 c. flour
2 1/2 sticks butter
1 c. plus 2 Tbsp. water
3 eggs
1 tsp. almond extract

Frosting:
2 Tbsp. butter
1/2 tsp. salt
2 Tbsp. milk
1 tsp. vanilla
1 1/2 c. powdered sugar
slivered almonds, toasted

Mix 1 1/2 cups flour and 1 1/2 sticks butter with pastry blender. Add water.
Mix with fork. Round into ball.

Pat dough into two strips, 12 x 3-inches on ungreased cookie sheet.

Bring 1 cup water and 1 stick butter to boil in saucepan.

Remove from heat; add flavoring. Stir in 1 cup flour all at once. Add eggs
one at a time, beating until smooth.

Spread evenly over each pastry. Bake 60 minutes at 350 degrees.

Beat butter, salt, milk, vanilla and powdered sugar until smooth. Frost
pastry; sprinkle with almonds.
