CONSUMER ADVISORY - Elevated Levels of arsenic in bottled water imported to the
United States
OTTAWA, March 8, 2007 - The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) is closely
following an investigation by U.S. authorities into elevated levels of arsenic
in Jermuk brand mineral water. The product is imported from Armenia.
The CFIA is working with the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and
Canadian importers to determine if this brand of bottled mineral water has been
imported to Canada.
If any Canadian distribution is identified, the CFIA will take immediate action
to advise the public and verify the effective removal of the product from the
marketplace.

embouteillée importée aux États-Unis
OTTAWA, le 8 mars 2007 - L'Agence canadienne d'inspection des aliments (ACIA)
surveille de près le déroulement d'une enquête menée par les autorités
américaines sur des concentrations élevées d'arsenic dans l'eau minérale de
marque Jermuk. Le produit est importé d'Arménie.
L'ACIA collabore avec la Food and Drug Administration (FDA) des États-Unis et
les importateurs canadiens afin de déterminer si de l'eau minérale embouteillée
de marque Jermuk a été importée au Canada.
Si ce produit a été distribué au Canada, l'ACIA prendra des mesures immédiates
pour informer la population et s'assurer que le produit est bien retiré du
marché.
