Lonestar, Record Label Part Ways Fri. March 09.2007 6:01 PM EST Lonestar is no longer on the BNA Records roster, according to a spokesman for Sony BMG in Nashville. Mountains, the band's latest BNA CD, was released Oct. 17, 2006. With disappointing sales, the CD is not currently ranked among the 75 titles on Billboard's country albums chart. Their most recent singles include "Mountains" and "Nothing to Prove." The band first BNA single, "Tequila Talking," was released in 1995. They have reached No. 1 on Billboard's country airplay chart nine times with "No News," "Come Cryin' to Me," "Amazed," "Smile," "What About Now," "Tell Her," "I'm Already There," "My Front Porch Looking In" and 2004's "Mr. Mom."
George Strait Postpones Shows Due to Laryngitis Fri. March 09.2007 6:01 PM EST George Strait has postponed two concerts this weekend because of a severe case of laryngitis, according to his Web site. The shows at the Mohegan Sun Casino in Uncasville, Conn., scheduled for Friday and Saturday (March 9-10) have been rescheduled for April 26-27. Ronnie Milsap will open the shows, which are the only upcoming concerts on Strait's itinerary. Strait is nominated for eight Academy of Country Music (ACM) awards, which will be presented May 15 in Las Vegas. BMI Honors "It Just Comes Natural" Writers Fri. March 09.2007 6:01 PM EST Songwriters Jim Collins and Marv Green were honored Thursday afternoon (March 8) at a BMI reception for the No. 1 hit, "It Just Comes Natural," recorded by George Strait. The song comes from Strait's album of the same name. His follow-up single is "Wrapped." Strait did not attend the party but guests included producer Tony Brown and manager Erv Woolsey. Collins' writing credits include Kenny Chesney's "The Good Stuff." In addition, Green's writing credits include Lonestar's "Amazed." Doyle Lawson & Quicksilver Lineup Changes Fri. March 09.2007 6:01 PM EST Three members of IBMA-award winning bluegrass band Doyle Lawson & Quicksilver are leaving. Terry Baucom (banjo) and Mike Hartgrove (fiddle) have been replaced by Chris Warner and Alan Johnson, respectively. "I don't like changes when they occur, but when they do, you just get on with life," Lawson says. "I'm really happy that I was able to find replacements this quickly. The good thing is that both of these players are really strong, quick studies." In addition, Jamie Dailey (guitar, vocals) will exit at the end of 2007 to start a band with Darrin Vincent, a member of Ricky Skaggs & Kentucky Thunder. Doyle Lawson & Quicksilver will release a new album, More Behind the Picture Than the Wall, on Rounder Records on March 27. Darryl Worley to Sing Anthem at NASCAR Race in Las Vegas Fri. March 09.2007 6:01 PM EST Darryl Worley will sing the national anthem prior to the Busch series' Sam's Town 300 on Saturday (March 10) in Las Vegas. The race will be broadcast by ABC at 2:30 p.m. ET. Worley will also be playing at Fremont Street Experience's Race Jam on Saturday night. In other news, Worley will serve as a judge, along with actress/model Ali Landry and Kelli Finglass, director of the Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders, on an upcoming episode of CMT's Karaoke-Dokey.
