    Source: Carepages  Recipe from Sturbridge, MA via Linda B.

    2 c dark brown sugar

    1 c shortening

    2 eggs

    2 c sifted flour

    1 c quick rolled oats

    1 1/2 tsp baking soda

    1 tsp salt

    2 tsp vanilla

    Granulated sugar for coating, about 1/2 c

    Cream shortening & brown sugar. Add eggs & vanilla. Beat well. Stir in 
flour, sifted with salt & soda. Add oats. Roll sm balls, about walnut sized, in 
granulated

    sugar. Place on greased baking sheet & bake at 350°F 10-12 min.

    about 3 dozen
