Willie Nelson Takes Picnic to Washington State

Willie Nelson will host his Fourth of July picnic in the state of Washington 
this year, marking the first time the event has taken place outside of Texas.
The lineup also includes alt-country band Son Volt, the recently reunited Old 
97s, Southern rockers Drive-By Truckers and singer-songwriter Amos Lee. The
concert will take place at the Gorge Amphitheater in George, Wash., about 150 
miles east of Seattle. Tickets go on sale May 12. Nelson founded the picnic
in 1973 in Dripping Springs, Texas, and has held it in various locations 
throughout the state until this year.

Billy Currington CD Certified Platinum

Billy Currington's second album, Doin' Somethin' Right, has been certified 
platinum for shipments of 1 million copies. The project includes "Why, Why,
Why," "Must Be Doin' Somethin' Right" and "Good Directions." He is expected to 
release a new album in the fall. "I couldn't be happier," says Currington.
"It feels amazing to know that I have so much support out there with the fans. 
It seems like the shows just keep getting better and better, and I'm having
a blast."

CMT/NSAI Song Contest Winners Revealed

Winners have been announced in the seventh annual CMT/NSAI Song Contest. The 
grand prize winner is "Makin' Do" by Charlie Worsham and Kyle Hurlbut of 
Nashville.
The CMT Listener's Choice Award winner is "Hold On" by Keith Larsen of Grove 
City, Ohio. Named as finalists are "Tennessee Cowboy" (Celeste Krenz, Wayne
Smotherman, J. Nelson Biddle), "Dang" (Chris Caminiti, Jackie DiPillio, Lisa 
Chamberlin), "I'm Not Him" (Bill Diluigi) and "Country Music Spoken Here"
(Martin Gibson). The writers of the grand prize song receive a Gibson guitar, a 
mentoring session with singer-songwriter John Rich of Big & Rich and other
prizes. The top six winners will receive single-song publishing contracts.
