SIMPLE CAKE 1 c. raisins 2 c. water 1/2 c. shortening 1 egg 1 tsp. cloves 1 tsp. allspice 1 tsp. cinnamon 1 tsp. baking powder 1/4 tsp. salt 2 c. flour
Simmer raisins in water until water is reduced to 1 cup. While warm, mix raisins and all ingredients together (water included).
