OLD SOUTHERN POUND CAKE
3 c. granulated sugar 1/2 lb. butter 1/4 c. Crisco 1 c. sweet milk 5 eggs 3 c. flour 1/2 tsp. baking powder 2 tsp. lemon flavor 1 tsp. vanilla Cream shortening, sugar, and Crisco. Add eggs. Add flour and baking powder mixed. Alternate with milk. Add flavoring. Pour into tube pan (12 cup size) or 2 loaf pans, 5 x 9. Put in cold oven at 350 degrees for 1 hour 10 minutes depending on kind of stove (test early). 1 hour for loaf pans, 35-40 minutes for mini loaf.
