Willie Nelson Named BMI Icon

Willie Nelson will be honored as a BMI Icon at the performing rights 
organization's invitation-only country awards gala in Nashville on Nov. 6. The 
distinction
is given to BMI songwriters and artists who have had a unique and indelible 
influence on generations of music makers. Past honorees include Merle Haggard,
Dolly Parton, Bill Anderson, Charlie Daniels and Loretta Lynn. Nelson's 
songwriting credits include "Crazy," "Angel Flying Too Close to the Ground," 
"Funny
How Time Slips Away," "On the Road Again" and "Night Life."

Vietnam Vets Honor Big & Rich

Big & Rich will receive the Vietnam Veterans of America's President's Award for 
Excellence in the Arts on Wednesday (July 18) during the opening ceremonies
of the organization's convention in Springfield, Ill. The award recognizes the 
duo's 2006 single, "8th of November," inspired by a battle U.S. troops fought
in Vietnam in 1965. Niles Harris, a Purple Heart recipient who inspired the 
song, will attend the presentation. Previous recipients of the award include
Kris Kristofferson, Bob Hope, George Jones and Raquel Welch.

Faith Hill Invites "Cry" Writer to Join Tour

Faith Hill has invited Angie Aparo, who wrote her 2002 hit, "Cry," to sing with 
her during four shows on her Soul2Soul 2007 tour with husband Tim McGraw.
Aparo will appear in Atlanta (July 21) before heading to Florida for tour dates 
in Jacksonville (July 22), Sunrise (July 24) and Tampa (July 25). ... In
related news, Warner Bros. newcomer Lance Miller will play the main stage of 
the Soul2Soul tour for five shows. He has been performing on the outdoor stage
prior to the concert throughout the tour. Miller's next single, "The Beach," 
will be released to country radio on July 24, and his debut album is slated
for release in early 2008.

Trisha Yearwood's New Single Due on Monday

Trisha Yearwood will digitally release a new single, "Heaven, Heartache and the 
Power of Love," to country radio on Monday (July 16). It's her first single
for Big Machine Records as well as the title track for her upcoming album, 
which was produced by Garth Fundis. No release date has been set. Yearwood 
previously
recorded for MCA Nashville. Big Machine's roster also includes Taylor Swift, 
Jack Ingram, Danielle Peck, Jimmy Wayne, Dusty Drake and Sunny Sweeney.

Chris Cagle Preparing New CD

Chris Cagle has recorded seven songs so far for his fourth album on Capitol 
Nashville. He will release the project's first single, "What Kinda Gone," later
this month. No release date has been scheduled for the album. "It's so good to 
come back to radio with a song that I know is format-friendly, sing-able,
unique and comical in content ... and I'm very proud of the production," Cagle 
said. He hit No. 1 in 2001 with "I Breathe In, I Breathe Out," a song he
co-wrote.

Trace Adkins Raises Awareness of Food Allergies

Trace Adkins will serve as this year's honorary chairman of Walk for Food 
Allergy: Moving Toward a Cure. The walk will be held in 20 cities with an 
additional
online version. Adkins' daughter, Brianna, now 6, was diagnosed with a peanut 
allergy when she was 18 months old following a severe reaction to peanut
butter. She is also allergic to eggs and milk. Food allergy afflicts one in 25 
Americans and one in 17 under age 3.

New CDs Include The Very Best of Tracy Lawrence

The Very Best of Tracy Lawrence (Rhino) leads the list of new country albums 
released on Tuesday (July 10). The 21-track collection spans from 1991's "Sticks
and Stones" to 2003's "Paint Me a Birmingham." ... Other new releases include 
Jason Isbell's Sirens of the Ditch (New West), Jason Meadows' 100% Cowboy
(Baccerstick), Bobby Osborne's Bluegrass Melodies (Rounder), Fionn Regan's The 
End of History (Lost Highway) and Kim Richey's Chinese Boxes (Vanguard).
In addition, Sugar Hill Records has added six volumes to its Americana Masters 
Series with new compilations from Terry Allen, Doyle Lawson, the Lonesome
River Band, the Nashville Bluegrass Band, Reckless Kelly and Peter Rowan.

Trick My Truck Returns for Third Season on CMT

The third season of CMT's Trick My Truck will begin July 20 with eight new 
episodes. The Chrome Shop Mafia will continue to renovate semi-trucks, but new
challenges include updating a tow truck, a pickup truck and even an ice cream 
truck. A special episode features trucker Dale Hayden, who recently lost
his mother to breast cancer, with a truck transformed into a moving tribute in 
her honor. Trick My Truck debuted in 2006 as the highest-rated, 
regularly-scheduled
series premiere ever for CMT.

Emmylou Harris Will Sing at IBMA

Emmylou Harris, the Grascals and Cherryholmes are among the performers slated 
for the International Bluegrass Music Association (IBMA) Fan Fest to be held
Oct. 5-7 in Nashville. In addition, banjo master Tony Trischka will deliver the 
opening keynote address of the IBMA World of Bluegrass conference taking
place Oct. 1-4. The IBMA Awards will be held Oct. 4 at the Grand Ole Opry 
House. Other artists taking part in IBMA activities include Doyle Lawson & 
Quicksilver,
Larry Sparks, Ronnie Bowman, the Greencards and many more.
