Uncle Kracker Arrested on Sex Charge

Uncle Kracker, Kid Rock's former disc jockey who released a country-influenced 
album in 2004, was arrested Friday (Aug. 17) and charged with second-degree
forcible sex after a 26-year-old woman claimed he committed a sexual act 
against her at a nightclub in Raleigh, N.C. The 33-year-old singer and rapper,
whose real name is Matthew Shafer, was booked into the Wake County Jail after 
being arrested at a hotel in a Raleigh suburb. Bond was set at $5 million.
"When the Sun Goes Down," his duet with Kenny Chesney, spent five weeks at the 
top of Billboard's country singles chart in 2004. He has also toured frequently
with Chesney.

Book by Johnny Cash's First Wife Due Sept. 4

A book by Johnny Cash's first wife, Vivian, will be released Sept. 4 by 
Scribner Books. Before her death in 2005, Vivian told her story to TV producer
Ann Sharpsteen, who shares an author credit on I Walked the Line: My Life With 
Johnny. Vivian describes Cash's early career, how June Carter entered their
life and Vivian and Johnny's divorce in 1966. Vivian is the mother of Cash's 
four daughters. One of the daughters, Kathy Cash, says, "This book is the
greatest part of my mother's legacy as a wife, a grandmother, a matriarch, a 
mother and, most important, a woman in love."

Gram Parsons 1969 Concerts Will Be Released

A two-CD set titled Gram Parsons Archive Vol. 1: The Flying Burrito Brothers 
"Live" at the Avalon Ballroom 1969 will be released by Amoeba Records on Oct.
30. This is the first time the concert recordings will be available. Recorded 
in San Francisco when the band opened for the Grateful Dead, the album includes
27 tracks, including never-before-heard rarities. The tapes were found in the 
Grateful Dead vault and were recorded by the Dead's sound engineer Bear (Owsley
Stanley).

Wynonna Will Sing at Macy's Parade

Wynonna will perform "Winter Wonderland" at the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade 
in New York on Nov. 22. The appearance will kick off her Christmas tour.
In addition, an NBC special, Wynonna Tribute on Ice, is set to air Dec. 23. The 
special, which will feature skating champions skating to her hits, will
include a guest appearance by Naomi Judd. Wynonna will also sing for ABC's A 
Holiday Celebration at Ford's Theater, but no air date has been announced.

Grascals Team With Mayberry's Finest

The Grascals, who have received two nominations for this year's International 
Bluegrass Music Association awards, have entered into an endorsement deal
with Mayberry's Finest, a new line of Southern-seasoned food items inspired by 
The Andy Griffith Show. The band has written and recorded a jingle and will
promote the food line at public appearances and in print ads and radio and TV 
commercials. Retailers in the southeastern U.S. will begin selling the products
this fall.
