CANDY APPLE COOKIES

1/2 c. butter
1/4 c. brown sugar
1/2 c. powdered sugar
1 egg
1 tsp. vanilla
2 c. flour

Mix all ingredients together. Roll cookie dough into small balls. Bake at 350 
degrees, 15 to 18 minutes. While warm insert colored toothpicks in center
of each cookie. Work with small batches so you can insert toothpicks before 
they cool down too much. Let cool. 1/2 c. milk Crushed nuts

Melt caramels with milk in double boiler. Add red food coloring. If too thick 
add a little more milk. Dip cooled cookies in caramel mixture. Then roll in
crushed nuts. Place in candy papers.  Enjoy.
