Emerson Drive's Former Bassist Dies

Patrick Bourque, former bassist for Emerson Drive, died suddenly Tuesday night 
(Sept. 25) at his home in Montreal, Canada, according to the band's publicist.
Although an investigation is underway, no details regarding the cause of death 
had been released by police as of late Wednesday afternoon (Sept. 26). The
29-year-old musician replaced Emerson Drive's original bass player, Jeff 
Loberg, in 2003. Bourque had been living and working in Canada since resigning
from the band in August. The members of Emerson Drive learned of his death 
while traveling to a Wednesday night concert at a casino in Valentine, Neb.

Hall of Fame Benefit Concert Coming to NYC

Vince Gill, Patty Griffin, Jewel and Trisha Yearwood will perform together in 
New York City to raise money for the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum
in Nashville. The invitation-only event, hosted by actor Ethan Hawke, will be 
held at the Nokia Theatre Times Square on Oct. 10. The musicians will 
participate
in a guitar pull, in which everybody takes a turn singing a song and often 
sharing the story behind it. Unannounced songwriters, including some from 
outside
of the country genre, are also expected to perform at the gala event. This is 
the Hall's first attempt to create an annual fundraising event outside of
Nashville.

Old Crow Added to Americana Honors Show

Old Crow Medicine Show, Uncle Earl, Sunny Sweeney and Todd Snider have been 
added to the list of performers for the Americana Honors and Awards Show to
be held Nov. 1 at the Ryman Auditorium in Nashville. More artists will be 
announced soon. Other musicians confirmed to perform include the Avett Brothers,
Guy Clark, Emmylou Harris, the Hacienda Brothers, Elizabeth Cook, Amy LaVere 
and Ricky Skaggs with Bruce Hornsby. The ceremony is open to the public. Tickets
are $35.

Rodney Atkins Named Spokesperson for Adoption

Rodney Atkins has been named the national celebrity spokesperson for the 
National Council for Adoption (NCFA), an advocacy organization. Atkins will 
share
his story of being adopted and will perform a lunchtime set at the All National 
Parent Recruitment Summit on Oct. 3 in Washington D.C. "These children
are the future of our nation and our families. It is important that we make 
sure they are taken care of," Adkins says.
