DOUBLE CHOCOLATE OATMEAL COOKIES

1/2 c. shortening
1 c. sugar
1 egg
2 (1 oz.) squares unsweetened chocolate, melted and cooled
2 tsp. vanilla
1 c. flour
1/2 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. salt
1 c. oatmeal
1/2 c. chopped pecans
1/2 c. chocolate chips

Cream shortening and sugar. Beat in egg. Blend in chocolate, vanilla and 2 
tablespoons water. Mix in flour, soda and salt. Stir in oats, nuts and chocolate
chips. Roll into 1 inch balls, then roll balls in sugar. Place 2 inches apart 
on greased cookie sheet. Flatten with sugared bottom of a tumbler. Bake at
350 degrees for 10-12 minutes. Makes 3 dozen.  Enjoy.
