Joe Nichols has canceled a Saturday night (Oct. 13) concert in Waco, Texas, and entered a substance abuse rehabilitation program. According to a message his management company posted on his Web site late Friday afternoon, "As Joe has alluded to in interviews over the past year, he has struggled with the issue of substance abuse. In order to become a healthier person and deal with longstanding issues, he has entered into a rehabilitation program for consultation and treatment." Nichols' Nashville-based publicist, Jennifer Bohler, would not comment on the situation, saying, "All I can do is point people to his Web site." The Waco Tribune-Herald newspaper reported that officials of the Heart O' Texas Fair were notified Thursday that Nichols had been hospitalized and would not be able to perform. Nichols married Heather Singleton on Sept. 9 in Savannah, Ga. Kenny Chesney, Toby Keith Celebrating Sammy Hagar's Birthday Fri. Dierks Bentley, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Miranda Lambert and Lyle Lovett are on Saturday's concert bill. McGraw and Nelson perform Sunday on a bill that includes Trace Adkins, Gary Allan and Jack Ingram. Others scheduled to perform include Robert Earl Keen, the Wreckers, the Flatlanders, Kevin Fowler, Chris Cagle, Craig Morgan, Reckless Kelly, Eric Church, Billy Joe Shaver, Charlie Louvin, Luke Bryan and Sunny Sweeney. As announced in advance, the All for the Hall dinner and concert featured Vince Gill, Trisha Yearwood, Jewel and Patty Griffin. For more than an hour, Tucker performed a string of her hits, including "Would You Lay With Me (In a Field of Stone)," "Some Kind of Trouble," "Love Me Like You Used To," "Texas (When I Die)" and many more. Daughters Presley and Layla both joined their mother on stage during the evening. Sonny West, Elvis Presley's close friend and former bodyguard, was also in attendance. Dale is the feature film documenting the life of NASCAR legend Dale Earnhardt. Joining Keith in concert are Carter's Chord and Flynnville Train, who record for Toby Keith's label, Show Dog Nashville. In related news, Whiskey Falls, whose self-titled debut album was released in September, will perform the national anthem. The Bank of America 500 will air on ABC at 7 p.m. ET.
